Speedy & Solid (so far!) : Verbatim 97238 25 GB 6x Blu-ray Single Layer Recordable Disc BD-R, 10-Disc Spindle
Bought these discs with the hope of burning Blu-Rays at 12x, since the "good" media seem to be able to be burned at double their rated speed. The discs were detected just fine, and ImgBurn had no troubles detecting a max write speed of 12x for them.
Just finished my first burn with my Pioneer BDR-206 and I can honestly say that the experience was great. The burn wend smoothly, and I was able to get just over 11x max. Below is an excerpt from my ImgBurn log to give you an idea of the exact speeds:
Average Write Rate: 35,954 KB/s (8.0x) - Maximum Write Rate: 50,838 KB/s (11.3x)
Not too shabby for discs that are relatively cheap! I'm sold on these discs, and will be buying more when my supply runs low.
Update: I just burned my 200th disc and haven't had any quality issues with these guys so far! The only "coasters" I've had are due to my own mistakes (lack of testing the .iso image and such). I have since learned that when burning a Blu-Ray movie it is best to load the completed .iso file into a virtual drive, such as with WinCDEmu (Free/Open Source) to preview the image and make sure that it plays properly before attempting to burn. This dramatically cut down on my "oops" moments! Since then I haven't had to throw away any discs. At almost $2/disc, this extra step has saved me some serious cash so far. I highly recommend proofing before burning!
